A pavement café on a summer's night
if I don't lose consciousness, I'll keep on thinking of you.
There's a monkey that's dancing on the end of a stick
and ladies with umbrellas that say to me, "Hello, how are you?".
There is a man praying to some superior god
with two candles and a cardboard nose
and I have come secretly, don't tell anyone,
here to the place on this earth that most reminds me of you.
There are two policemen riding a horse,
the horses seems to eb made of rubber and the riders of metal.
One, two, three; traditional sausage
I would write you a postcard but my head is too heavy.
 
We're going to walk along La Rambla,
I'll buy you a bunch of lowers.
We're going for a walk along La Rambla,
we'll drink coloured syrup.
We're going for a walk along La Rambla,
wearing papers hats,
we'll paint our faces pink
and speak in a foreign language.
 
On the balcony of a run down guest house
there's a fat woman brushing her hair,
she's waring a wig that falls off when she drinks from the wine jar
and she still remembers the horse dwawn trams.
I've seen a twisted tree with coloured lights
and a lonely pigeon fighting with a glass of anised;
there are delighful days that you feel like remembering,
we're going as far as La Rambla to have a glass of Pastis.
